Private String Lessons

Pedagogy is my passion! Kelley Strings & Score offers individualized instruction for beginning to advanced violin, beginning to intermediate viola, and beginning cello. All ages are welcome- I love teaching children, teenagers, and adults! My program includes regular group classes and the opportunity to perform in multiple recitals per year.

Pillars of My Teaching Philosophy

  • Mentorship: A mentor is more than a teacher. A mentor reaches a student at their level and raises them up to their unique potential.

  • Sequencing: Sequencing, planning, and communicating are paramount for each individual student’s success.

  • Teaching the Whole Musician: Students should leave my studio as self-reliant musicians with the tools that they need to accomplish what they would like to with their unique voices, goals, and experiences.

  • Student Driven Work: Students should be actively involved in the learning process and should have age-appropriate choices within their lessons.

  • Musical experiences: Students should regularly be having musical experiences in addition to musical instruction.

  • Collaboration: Working with peers to learn and have musical experiences is vital within lessons and music education.

  • Teaching as a craft: Like learning a musical instrument, teaching is a skill that needs to be studied, practiced, and enjoyed!

Lesson Plans

Best suited for beginners, weekly 30 minute lessons are centered around developing new technique and exploration through play.

30 Minute Lessons

Ideal for intermediate students who are looking to further their technique and explore more advanced repertoire while beginning to develop skills for ensemble playing.

45 Minute Lessons

Intended for advanced students, 60 minute lessons provide sufficient time to give focus and attention to performance, practice skills, and audition prep, in addition to technique and repertoire.

60 Minute Lessons
